2025 Election

Call for Nominations

 

Nominating petitions will be accepted by the Election Committee between November 25 and December 6, 2024 (3 PM E.T.).  Completed nominating petitions must be electronically submitted to nominations@ptos.org by 3:00 PM E.T. on Friday Dec 6, 2024.  Campaign material for posting on this webpage (see table below) must be submitted by 3 PM E.T. on Monday Dec 30, 2024.

Note: PTOS Board members cannot concurrently hold office in an organization that has collective bargaining rights with the USPTO, nor can Board members concurrently act on behalf of the USPTO in collective bargaining with such organizations.  See Article V, Sec. 4 of the PTOS Constitution for additional details and restrictions.

Electronic Signature guidelines: 

To obtain an electronic signature, nominees must send an email from their USPTO email to the signer's USPTO email requesting electronic signature.  Signer must respond with an email having one of the statements listed below.  Then, nominees must submit the nomination form(s) and a copy of each email response containing the electronic signature.  This packet should be emailed to nominations@ptos.org. 

For Executive Officer positions, or At Large positions (positions for which all members are eligible):

"I, ***, nominate *** for the position of ***.  /***/"

Example: I, John Doe, nominate Sally Smith for the position of Treasurer.  /John Doe/

For Business Unit positions (positions for which nominees must be nominated from within their business unit):

"I, ***, nominate *** for the position of ***, and I currently work in this area of representation.  /***/"

Example: I, John Doe, nominate Sally Smith for the position of TC 2400 Representative, and I currently work in this area of representation.  /John Doe/

For Regional Representative positions (positions for which nominees must be nominated from within their geographic region):

"I, ***, nominate *** for the position of ***, and I currently live in this region.  /***/"

Example: I, John Doe, nominate Sally Smith for the position of Western Regional Representative, and I currently live in this region.  /John Doe/

 

The 2025 PTOS Election will take place from Jan 13-15, 2025

USPTO email may not be used for campaigning.  Violations of the Election Committee bylaws (available here starting at Page 25) can be reported confidentially to the Election Committee at evote@ptos.org.
