By requirement of Article VII, Section 2(i) of the Society Constitution, Article III, Sections 4 and 5 of the By Laws and Article VII of the Standing Rules of the Journal of the Patent and Trademark Office Society, a vacancy is being announced to all active members of the Society in the position of Executive Director of the Journal of the Patent and Trademark Office Society.
Position Overview
The Journal of the Patent and Trademark Office Society (JPTOS) seeks a passionate, driven, and energetic Executive Director to spearhead a member-driven publication venture that strives to inform and engage the intellectual property community- both domestic and internationally. JPTOS publishes quarterly and the Executive Director plays a critical role in the publication and dissemination of the Journal. The ideal candidate will be an active member of the Patent and Trademark Office Society (PTOS) and have two years of managerial experience. Education and/or experience related to Publishing, business, and management is a plus.
Responsibilities
The Executive Director will be responsible for managing the Journal’s presence, operations and advertisement. This includes promoting the Journal, advertising in relevant publications, as well as the expansion and maintenance of the customer base. The Executive Director will oversee Journal production and partner with the editorial staff to ensure that each issue is published on time. Further responsibilities include communicating with customers to resolve issues, maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, and drafting/presenting monthly reports to the Board of Governors of the PTOS.
Compensation
This is a paid position serving the Board of Governors of JPTOS for a four-year term, which commences on the date that the position is accepted. The Executive Director, while a member of the Board of Governors, will not have a vote on any measure affecting the Executive Director’s compensation.
Selection Process
Applicants will submit a qualifications statement, after which an interview conducted by the Board of Governors may be required. The position will be filled via a majority vote of the Board of Governors with the advice and consent of the Board of Directors.
